Nehru college of Aeronautics and applied Sciences has been playing an important role as an institution par excellence for imparting technical training in aviation since 1968. Nehru college of Aeronautics and Applied Sciences has been accorded permanent recognition for conducting various technical courses and training programmes of Government of India and state government. The college is situated in Kuniamuthur, 5km away from Coimbatore Railway station and is on the NH 47(Coimbatore-Palakkad Main Road).

About the Course

Aircraft Maintenance Engineers (AME) are primarily responsible for keeping the Aircraft in an airworthy condition and issue certificate of airworthiness before the take –off. Airworthiness of such vital components is being certified by Aircraft Maintenance Engineer holdings AME Licences in the respective trades.

The institution is approved under category 'G' for imparting instructions to AME trainees and the training imparted herein is recognised by the Director General of Civil Aviation, Government of India, New Delhi.

Scope of Approval

The college is approved by DGCA to impart ab-initio (basic) training in the field of Aircraft Maintenance Engineering to cover.

  • MECHANICAL STREAM (AERO PLANE & POWER PLANTS) LA, PE, HA & JE).
  • MECHANICAL STREAM (HELICOPTER & POWER PLANTS) (RA, PE & JE)
  • AVIONICS STREAM (ES, IS & RN).

Training:

The college is providing six months on the job training to the students on their successful completion of five semesters. The training is planned broadly to cover tasks related to aircraft maintenance activities. The training will be for a duration of 100 working days spread over six months and a student shall have a minimum of 80% attendance to make him eligible for completion of training. The training will be conducted on the Hawker Siddley HS-125 –IA,King air C-90, Cessna 150 aeroplane and Bell 47 G5 helicopter held by the college. In addition, extensive use of system mockup, aero engines and components used in the shops will also be made for practical exercises as required. The training shall be conducted separately for students of each stream. On successful completion of OJT, the Chief Instructor issues certificate as per the approved format.
